Method for Processing Matallurgical Waste Acid

The global annual production of magnesium metal is approximately 1 million tons. Whether refining metallic magnesium or producing magnesium alloys, the process generates magnesium waste residue.

Guangyu Technology utilizes the smelting furnace bottom slag and die-casting furnace bottom slag from unrecoverable magnesium metal to generate hydrogen and stable by-products. The advantages of this process include:

  1. The process does not emit carbon dioxide, helping to avoid further contributions to global warming.

  2. The hydrogen produced in the reaction has high purity, making it widely applicable (as shown in Table 1).

  3. With the current focus on hydrogen energy research worldwide, this reaction process efficiently obtains cost-effective hydrogen energy, which, when combined with fuel generators, provides environmentally friendly electrical power.

  4. The hydrogen produced through this technology is cost-effective, requiring no raw material costs, only artificial equipment expenses.

  5. Every cubic meter of hydrogen generated can produce 1.2 kWh of electricity. Compared to commercially available hydrogen prices, the hydrogen produced by this technology has the lowest fuel cost for hydrogen. Using the hydrogen production method from industrial waste, it is possible to obtain green energy certificates from Taiwan Power Company, which can be sold at a rate of 8 NTD/kWh. It also qualifies for carbon emission tax trading quotas.
